Stupid White people with guns

I like guns. Big, black and scary. The more, the better. I believe in the Second Amendment, but I have to question the mental capacity of Lauren Boebert and Thomas Massie and their latest moronic stunt showing their families heavily armed on virtual Christmas cards.  They clearly have zero common sense or decency.

What the hell kind of sick, twisted world are we living in when anyone makes a Christmas card with guns?  Christmas is supposed to be a time of love, peace, family gatherings and the joy of the holiday; about people coming together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, or a least a time of giving and receiving.

Last week, Rep. Thomas Massie, Republican of Kentucky, tweeted a photo of his family holding weapons.  Massie was holding an M60 machine gun, his wife a Thompson machine gun, a young woman held an Uzi, and four others had ARs and what appears to be an AK and another rifle I cannot identify.   None of the weapons were fitted with magazines.

Not to be outdone, Lauren Boebert published her Christmas card just days later with the Boebert Klan, like so many armed child soldiers. Four young sons, each posing with ARs with magazines inserted.    And this just a few days after a baby-faced 15 year old went on a rampage at his high school in Michigan, killing four students and wounding many others. Boebert and her husband have had multiple brushes with the law in the past, so it’s clear this is not some pillar of the community arming her children.  (which still wouldn’t be acceptable) In 2020, it was reported that her sons were 7, 10, 12 and 14 years of age.  I’m surprised she didn’t give each of these future right-wing radicals a beer or a cocktail and KKK hoods while she was at it. Perhaps a flame thrower and a burning cross in the background. Because, why not?

This isn’t just stupid, it’s evil.    And it’s meant to convey the message that White America is armed and ready.    As stupid as it might have been, these weren’t a group of adult hunters celebrating a get-together with hunting rifles; these were children glorifying weapons of war, and the implied threat to all those who challenge White Americans’ “rightful” place at the top of the social pyramid.  The type of weapons designed with the sole purpose of killing other people as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Imagine if the family that did this were Black, Hispanic, or Muslim.    The Republicans might actually burst into flames screaming about the threat to America and all law abiding citizens.  We wouldn’t hear the end of the howls decrying these terrorist monsters from the likes of Marjorie Taylor Green and Matt Gaetz.    Not long ago Boebert made jokes about Ilhan Omar being a terrorist! I don’t like Omar one bit, but who’s the terrorist now?

What has happened in America that anyone, much less our elected officials, have so little regard for the rule of law, common decency and human life that they think it’s acceptable to conflate Christmas, family and children with weapons of violence and death?   This isn’t funny or amusing.  It’s morally repugnant, reprehensible, disgusting and just plain evil.

It’s one thing to be pro-gun and pro Second Amendment, but guns are not toys. It’s moronic stunts like this that will lead to the rest of us losing some or all of our gun rights one day.   Only in America do we have people this stupid.

Merry Christmas. It’s open season on Democrats, Republicans who don’t agree with Trump, and brown people at the Massie and Boebert homes.
